Opera in Education

West Australian Opera offers a progression of learning experiences aimed to develop students understanding of the art form.

School Incursions

A fun, short opera performance at your school. Featuring 2 of the company’s singers and a pianist, the presentation is highly accessible and can be tailored to suit any age group.

Main house Productions

In 2012 there are 3 main house productions at His Majesty's Theatre – Elektra, Lucia di Lammermoor and Madam Butterfly. Schools receive discounted ticket prices and have access to FREE backstage tours and pre-performance talks.

Workshops

It takes more than singers and musicians to put an opera on stage. These workshops are a chance for students to meet the production team and/or makeup artists and learn how they create the effects that bring an opera to life.

Exploring Opera

This is a 45 minute performance for school students in His Majesty’s Theatre featuring West Australian Opera singers and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Last year this was attended by 800 students and teachers. Book now to be a part of this event.
