MAIN STAGE PRODUCTIONS

Walk the red carpet and give your students the experience of a lifetime with a visit to the theatre to see a real, live opera. All of our performances at His Majesty’s Theatre have surtitle screens and are accompanied by West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

This will provide you with the  opportunity to see the opera prior to your students. We will also give you complimentary programs, CD and resources.

Celebrate West Australian Opera’s 50th Anniversary in a free gala concert of operatic hits, in the beautiful setting of Supreme Court Gardens

LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR

An iconic work for Australia, this is the opera which made Dame Joan Sutherland famous, in the production she made her own. The traditional setting of this opera is much loved by opera audiences. This season is cast with a new generation of Australian singers led by Emma Pearson in the title role.

THE MERRY WIDOW

The Merry Widow was the runaway hit of its period. The beauty of the music, the glamour of the setting, and the effortless charm all combine to seduce the audience, just as the characters on stage seduce each other.

TOSCA

Puccini paints in primary colours in Tosca. Three themes of defiance, sacrifice and betrayal drive the plot. Each of the three leading characters is confronted with the choice either to honor or to betray. And each makes their choice, facing the consequences unflinchingly.
