History

West Australian Opera was established in 1967 is Western Australia’s only full-time, professional opera company.


MAINSTAGE PRODUCTIONS

West Australian Opera presents a season of operas in His Majesty’s Theatre, where the company has been resident for 50 years. The mainstage season includes popular work from the operatic repertoire, staged with full chorus and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

OPERATIC  EVENTS

West Australian Opera is committed to taking opera to as many people in Western Australia as possible. For over 26 years the company has presented City of Perth’s Opera in the Park to approximately 15,000 people in Supreme Court Gardens and simulcast live throughout the state. West Australian Opera is also proud to present operatic concert series in the regions, at unique WA locations such as the Pinnacles and Valley of the Giants. In 2017 the company also introduced Opera at the Quarry.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Support your state opera company through one of West Australian Operas many fundraising events. From an exquisite Sunset Supper in Government House gardens prior to Opera in the Park to a gourmet degustation dinner paired perfectly with opera at Voyager Estate Margaret River, all proceeds from these events will directly support West Australian Opera; our productions, young artists, education and community outreach initiatives.

EDUCATION

West Australian Opera provides comprehensive support for students and teachers to all its programs. We recognise the place West Australian Opera occupies in the study of music in Western Australia and we work to offer the best possible experience for students.

YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM

We continue to identify and develop young and emerging artists and provide training, advice and a creative pathway into the Company. We work with established artists locally, nationally and internationally to provide opportunities for creativity and career advancement.
