Opera in the Maj for Students
OPERA YOUTH NIGHT

West Australian Opera is committed to introducing our art form to new audiences and encouraging a lifelong love for opera.
We invite teachers and secondary students to join us pre-performance for refreshments and a personalised introduction to the opera work.  Meet artists and likeminded students in a casual environment and explore the work you are about to see.  Bookings are essential and places are limited.  Email education@waopera.asn.au

THE CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN

West Australian Premiere
One of the great masterpieces of early twentieth century music, Leos Janacek’s glorious score brings to life the tale of Sharp Ears the vixen.  The Cunning Little Vixen is a profound operatic and theatrical experience.  This work reflects on the nature of life, the cycle of birth and death and the connection between the world of humans and animals.  Suitable for ages 8 and above.

CARMEN

One of the world’s most popular opera’s.  Bizet’s Carmen is a heart racing drama filled with much loved arias.  Proud and defiant, Carmen is a femme fatale who lives by her own rules.  She draws Don Jose into her wild world and he becomes captivated under her spell leaving behind his sweetheart Micaela and his honour. The arrival of the magnificent bullfighter Escamillo pushes Don Jose to the point of madness as jealousy takes over. Carmen is part of this year’s Western Art Music Designated Works List

DON GIOVANNI

Mozart’s Don Giovanni is the powerful tale of an anti-hero and nobleman.  He flouts all of society’s rules and betrays without remorse and outrages those around him leaving despair and ruin in his wake.  Dramatic and darkly humorous this wonderfully staged production will leave your heart pumping as the truth unfolds in a climatic finale.

TICKETS

ALL our main season performances will take place at His Majesty’s Theatre and commence at 7.30pm.

ALL our main season performances are only $30 per student PLUS 1 free ticket with every 9 tickets purchased.

ADDITIONAL teacher/accompanying adult tickets are available at student rates.
