Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Benjamin Barker once had it all; but tragedy, heartache and a brutal act of betrayal lead him into a downward spiral of despair. Determined to avenge his loved ones, Barker returns to London and assumes a new identity, Sweeney Todd “the Demon Barber” of Fleet Street. Together with the deranged pie-maker Mrs. Lovett, he plots his revenge on those who have exiled them to society’s outer margins.

As their twisted plans come to fruition, they find solace in each other’s suffering and in their vengeance; but a looming betrayal may yet lead to their undoing.

“The piece is without doubt one of the most powerful, dramatic and theatrical horror tales ever set to music. And all the more thrilling in that for all its melodrama, blood and gore it tells a very universal human story.”

– Stuart Maunder, Director
