Don Giovanni

ABOUT THE SHOW

Don Giovanni thinks it's just another day. It's his last.

Mozart's masterpiece follows the infamous nobleman Don Giovanni, a reckless man driven by pleasure, power and conquest. He seduces, deceives and abandons without remorse, treating love and people as pawns in the pursuit of his own desires. His long suffering servant Leporello both fears and admires his master, faithfully keeping a catalogue of Giovanni’s endless conquests.

But no one can outrun the consequences of their actions. Even before the curtain rises, Mozart reveals Giovanni's fate, as an earth-shattering orchestral chord signals the gates of hell beginning to open. Consumed by the arrogance that has defined his life, Don Giovanni refuses to repent, laughing at guilt, mocking morality and daring fate itself until the very end.

In this new co-production from West Australian Opera and Opera Queensland, director Patrick Nolan reimagines Mozart's timeless masterpiece, holding a mirror to human behaviour that remains as captivating, provocative and unsettling as ever..
