Turandot

ABOUT THE SHOW

Princess Turandot is an enigmatic ruler: cold, untouchable and fiercely powerful. Protected by three impossible riddles, she has condemned countless suitors to their deaths rather than surrender her freedom.

When the mysterious Prince Calaf accepts her deadly challenge, he sees beyond her icy resolve to the woman hidden beneath. His determination to win her heart burns like a flame within her frozen world.

Quietly devoted to Calaf, Liù embodies the compassion and humanity that surrounds Turandot's impenetrable walls. Her soaring music culminates in one of opera's most moving acts of courage and self-sacrifice.

Featuring the unforgettable aria Nessun dorma, whose soaring melody has become one of the most celebrated in all of music, Turandot builds towards an exhilarating finale of hope, love and transformation. This is opera on its grandest scale.

Experience the majesty of Turandot in a spectacular new production directed by Ann Yee, featuring Anna-Louise Cole as Turandot and Paul O'Neill as Calaf.

This production of Turandot is by the Opera Conference, Australia’s national partnership of professional opera companies.
